Uses of Afraid of Structure | Afraid of in English

Definition:     

              We use afraid of in a situation in which there are some chances of the occurrence of any bad thing.

Structure:

                  Be afraid of + something.....
                  Be afraid of + verb +( Present form + ing )……

Examples :

  • He is afraid of getting failed in exams.
  • They are afraid of facing the music.
  • She is afraid of losing the bet.
  • He is not afraid of anything.
  • He was afraid of speaking in front me.
  • Bill is afraid of Dogs.

Let in English | Uses of Let Structure


We use “let + somebody + Verb (Present Form)” in English Language When we allow somebody to do something.

Examples:-

  • I let him complete his assignment.
  • He doesn’t let me go to your home.
  • Let him speak English.
  • Let her get into bus first.
  • Don’t let anyone rectify your mistake.
  • I have let him go there.
  • I have been letting him use my computer for 2 hours.
  • You shouldn’t have let him use your computer.
  • He wouldn’t let you use his computer.

Going To Structure | About To Structure

                           Going To

                "Going To" structure is used for planned future.When we plan something to do in future.This structure is used.

Structural Form:-

  • going to + Verb (Present form)

Examples :-

  • He is going to leave this college.
  • Robert is going to London.
  • I ain't going to attend the class.
  • Is teacher going to announce the results.
  • Bill is going to perform on stage.
  • He was going to resign from that job.
  • She was not going to invite me for that party.
  • Was mother going to make something special in lunch.

                         About To        

              "About To" structure is used when something is just going to be happened or when something is just nearer to be done.

Structural Form:-

  • about to + Verb (Present form)

Examples :-

  • He is about to leave this place after 5 minutes.
  • I am about to reached there.
  • Robert is about to leave this city.

Structure of How Long


How long” structure is used for asking about time duration to someone or about someone or about something.

                              First Use

Formulas:

    How long+have/has+Subject+been/had+compliment?
     How long+haven’t/hasn’t+Subject+been/had+compliment?

Uses of “Has” and “Have”:

Has      :-   It is used with He,She,It and all third person singulars.
Have    :-   It is used with I,We,You,They and plurals.

Examples:

  •         How long have you been here?
  •        How long have you had this car?
  •        How long has Robert been rich?
  •     How long has she been sulky?

                            Second Use

Formulas:

How long+have/has+Subject+been+Verb(Present form+ing)+object?
 How long+haven’t/hasn’t+Subject+been+(Present form+ing)+object?

Examples:-

  •       How long has bill been attending evening classes here in our college?
  •       How long hasn’t Robert been paying electricity bill?
  •       How long haven’t you been going to college?
  •       How long have Police been taking bribe from public?

Uses Of Yet, Still, Already,No Longer

1-Yet :

             Yet is used when something is expected from someone.Yet is normally used in negative statments or when a question is asked.

Examples :- 
  •      Robert has given Bill a gift, but Bill hasn't opened it yet.
  •      Have you recieved the letter yet?
  •      You have to wait for him.He hasn't come here yet.

2-Still :-

               Still is used when we have to wait for longer than expected. Normally it is used in positve sentences.It usually comes in mid of a sentence.

Examples :-

  •     Robert hasn't come in class yet.He is still at his home.
  •     I'm still waiting for reply of the letter which I sent him 3 months ago.
          It can also be used in some negative ssentences.

Example:-

  • Lunch break is going to be end and you still haven't taken lunch.

3-Already :-

             Already is used when something is done earlier than expected. Like "Still" it is also normally used in postive sentences.

Examples: 

  • I am already getting late. I can't wait for you anymore.
  • I have already taken lunch. I can't eat more.

4-No longer / Any longer / Any more :-

              No longer or any more or any longer is used when something has been finished or completed.

Examples:

  • You can't buy that model of this car. We no longer make it.
  • Robert has shifted to another city. He doesn't live here any longer.
  • I don't have any relation with her any more.

Structure Of Keep On With Formula


Formula:-

                 Subject+keep+on+Verb(Present form+ing)+Object

Note:-
                We can also use only “keep” rather than “keep on”.

Examples:-

·         I keep on drinking water whole day.

·         Robert keeps staring at Bill.

·         He keeps thinking about her.

·         Does he keep making fun of Robert?

·         Don’t you keep calling Bill?

·         She keeps knocking at door.

  It is used for liking.

Formula :-

                Subject+be fond of+Verb(Present form + ing)+Object.

Examples:-

·         I am fond of speaking possum.
·         Robert is fond of wearing perfume.

·         You are fond of hurting her.
·         Am I fond of swanking?

1st Variation:-

   Formula:  Sub+want+something.

   Examples:
·         I want this mobile.
·         I want a marker.
·         I don’t silence in the party.
·         Do you want him?
·         Don’t you want a good atmosphere?

2nd Variation:-

   Formula:  Sub+want+to+Verb(Present Form).

   Examples:-
·         I want to drive the car.
·         He doesn't want to buy a new mobile.
·         Do you really want to die?
·         Don’t you want to swim in deep water?
·         I wanted to meet you.
·         I didn't want to sing the song.
·         Do you want to join our group?

3rd Variation:-

                 Structure of “why don’t” or “why doesn't” is used to give suggestions.

Formula:-

               Why don’t/doesn't +Subject+Verb(Present form)+Object.

Uses of “don’t” and “ doesn't”:-

·         Don’t is used with I,We,You,They and other plurals.
·         Doesn't is used with He,She,it and Third Person Singulars.
