Traditional Parts Of Speech | Eight Parts of Speech

Words of English which are used to make a complete sentence/speech can be classified traditionally as “Parts of Speech”. They are the parts of a sentence which are essential to be in a sentence to  give a complete meaning.

There are generally eight parts of speech in standard English language.

1-      Noun

(  e.g  John,Book, Tea, Cat)

2-      Pronoun

 ( e.g  I, They, It, him, us )

3-      Adjective

 ( e.g pretty, Delicious, Smooth)

4-      Adverb

 ( fast, slowly,softly)

5-      Verb

(speak, eat, run,remember, give)

6-      Preposition

( in, under, during , with )

7-      Conjunction

( and,because,since,if)

8-      Interjection

(Hello! , Oh no!, Alas! , What! )
